dal amti(maharashtrian sweet and spicy dal preparation)










Recipe ..

Ingredients..

  • Ghee 1 tspoon
  • Oil 2 tspoon
  • Mustard seeds 1 tspoon
  • Cumin seeds 1 tspoon
  • Curry leaves 1 sprig
  • Cooked and mashed toor dal 2 cups
  • Chopped tomatoes 1 medium sized
  • Tamarind pulp 1-2 tspoons
  • Red chilly powder 2 tspoons
  • Coriander powder 2 tspoons
  • Sugar to taste
  • Chopped cilantro 2-3 tablespoons
  • Salt to taste
Procedure...
  • Initially heat up a pan and add ghee and oil into it
  • Once oil becomes hot,add mustard seeds
  • After it splutters add cumin seeds and curry leaves
  • Now add the cooked and mashed dal along with some water
  • Add chopped tomatoes and tamarind pulp and cook for 10 minutes
  • After that add red chilly powder, coriander powder and sugar/jaggery to taste
  • Cook for another 5-10 minutes
  • Finally add some chopped cilantro and ur dal anti is ready to be served hot with rice or roti
Note..
  • Traditionally this recipe is prepared with thin consistency(almost like rasam).. By adding water while cooking ,but I prefer it with normal dal consistency.... So its all up to ur taste and choice..
U can adjust the consistency accordingly...
